You have to follow different steps for routers with smart interfaces and routers with a new genie interface while assigning the specific IP.

For Smart wizard interface:

  • Go to the address bar of your web browser and type 192.168.1.1 and enter your username and password to begin the login for your router.
  • Once you reach the home screen, go to the Maintenance tab and select the attached devices option.
  • Make sure to note down your current assigned IP address.
  • Click on the advanced option and click on LAN set up.

For Genie interface:

  • By using the default, IP address http://192.168.1.1 or router login.net enter in your username and password and begin your login to your router.
  • Find the Basic tab and click on the attached devices.
  • Make sure to note down the currently assigned IP address.
  • Go to the advanced tab and click on set up.
  • Once you’ve clicked on set up, click on LAN set up
  • Under the LAN setup option, click on address reservation.
  • Choose ad and enter in the address that you want to assign to your device along with the username.
  • Click on apply and save the changes.

Enhancing your Netgear Security:

You can enhance your Netgear router security through 192.168.1.1 or http://198.168.1.1 by changing the net your router WPA or WPA2 security by default. Follow the steps given below to change your wireless password:
